Designed to be Intuitive: as Simple as 3 Steps

1

Track as much detail as your imagination can conjure up with Detail Sheets

A story is as detailed as the back-stories and descriptions of each plot element (characters, objects and locations). Detail Sheets can track defining features as well as visualize how each element relates to each other and where they show up in your story.

2

See and edit events on the Storyline Editor to ensure consistency from prologue to epilogue

The Storyline Editor shows each event and the elements they involve in chronological order. Easily move events around and edit their details for consistency in writing.

3

Export an auto-generated outline to help you craft the perfect tale

After you've edited element details and ordered each event to your liking, it's time to write. Sandwich Line can generate an outline of events and important information for you to reference as you shape your story.

Additional Features

Plot Threads

Threads are effectively sub-plots within your story. Threads can be viewed and edited within an event's Detail Sheet.

Markdown Support

Format notes and descriptions with markdown support across the platform.

Storyline Filtering

See only the events and elements you want by filtering the Storyline Editor. Isolate all the elements involved in a story or events which are tied to a thread. More filtering options to come!

Autosaved Workspaces

Your workspace is automatically saved so you can leave and come back to exactly where you left off, saving you time.

Meet the Team

Kaleb Coggins portrait Hey there! I'm Kaleb, the sole developer for Sandwich Line.
Inspired by close author friends, I first came up with Sandwich Line as a pen-and-paper exercise for producing a storyboard quickly, with supporting information for multiple characters, locations and objects. Later I realized the method could be digitized, expanded and shared with others to propel the writing process and inspire a new generation of authors.
The name came after I lost my job, was running out of finances and needed a source of income. I found myself closing at Subway when I realized that stories are a lot like sandwiches—a story has a setting (the bread), major characters (the meats and cheeses), and a plot and themes (the condiments). We all have favorite sandwiches just as we all like different book genres. The metaphor works so perfectly that I just couldn't pass up the opportunity.
I am so excited for the future of Sandwich Line and the impact it will make in the world. If you can, consider donating to help me build this tool full-time. Donators will receive free premium access according to the amount donated. If not, stay updated by joining the community Discord server.
